How heavy is this glass of water?

The following blog post, by Ann-Marie Caffrey, was forwarded to me (Thank you Neetu) and I found it so interesting that I decided to share it here.
ENJOY!
How heavy is this glass of water?
A lecturer was explaining stress management to an audience.
He raised a glass of water and asked
‘How heavy is this glass of water?’
Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.
The lecturer replied, ‘The absolute weight doesn’t matter.
It depends on how long I try to hold it.
If I hold it for a minute, that’s not a problem.
If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my right arm.
If I hold it for a day, you’ll have to call an ambulance.
In each case, it’s the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.’
He continued,
‘And that’s the way it is with stress.
If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later,
As the burden becomes increasingly heavy,
We won’t be able to carry on.’
‘As with the glass of water,
You have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again.
When we’re refreshed, we can carry on with the burden.’

Thanks to Barry for sending me that little piece of inspiration.
An apt story for January with New Years Resolutions abounding…it’s one of those times of year we can be a little hard on ourselves, setting high expectations.
It’s ironic, but one of the ‘side effects’ of learning about Law of Attraction can be subsequent feelings of failure and despondency.
This may seem strange, but I’ve personally received so many emails from people at the end of their tether asking why the Law of Attraction hasn’t worked for them.
Here’s the thing.
The popular message out there talks about this very cool ‘Law of Attraction’ which can bring us unlimited riches, great relationships, and basically a wonderful life.
The most prominent teachers are those who are already leading very comfortable and seemingly ideal lifestyles. They make it all sound so easy.
But the reality is that it can be a lonely journey. You may find yourself at odds with your family or friends who tell you it’s a load of rubbish.
You try to maintain your vision and stay the course.
But nothing appears to be changing in a material sense.
At some point, a hint of desperation may creep in to your thoughts.
The message this month is to go easy on yourself.
Don’t bite off more than you can chew.
Comparing yourself to high profile LoA ‘celebs’or spending your cash on info products that promise you will attract untold wealth and success can all leave you feeling pretty low when the results don’t happen.
There’s no magic formula for success other than simply:
‘Stop forcing and start allowing’.
As Joe Vitale mentioned in last month’s interview, the divine can sometimes overrule our specific requests. The real secret is to allow whatever comes – always trusting it’s serving you in some way.
When you do that, your trust becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
It’s never about hard work or getting stressed out.
Let go of the burden of trying to get ‘results’, hand that job over to a higher power.
Release stress by focusing fully on every moment of every day.
The best way to actually get results is to enjoy what is in the now.
Paradoxically (so much is paradoxical to our normal thinking when it comes to LoA!) but paradoxically, when you stop wishing things would happen faster, and when you instead savor today, that is when wonderful changes start happening very quickly.
So relax!
Put down that glass for a while and take a break.
You might just find that, while you rest (and release that resistance!) all those good things that you wished for will start to flow into your experience….

I hope you enjoyed this as much as I have.
